About the medals

The medals you are earning in our virtual events have a very special story. They are manufactured at a social enterprise in the Scottish Highlands called The Workshop Aberfeldy, who provide opportunities to young people in the local area who have additional support needs.

The Workshop is a registered UK charity (SC046301) and is open to all members of the community to use but has a particular emphasis on those under 25 years of age and those facing additional barriers to employment. The Workshop is a safe environment in which to gain self-confidence and interpersonal skills at their own pace while learning practical manufacturing skills. The Workshop generates revenue by selling products made during training and by completing larger projects such as our medals – they are working towards becoming financially self-sufficient but until then they also rely on grant funding.

We are proud to have our medals manufactured at The Workshop and support the work they do to help their local community to learn practical and technical manufacturing skills in wood working, engineering and laser cutting. Our medals are made from sustainable local forests and so have a far lower carbon footprint than imported metal medals. We hope you enjoy the medals The Workshop Aberfeldy have created for us!
